Dear Parents, 1/2/13
Happy, Happy New Year! Welcome back after a long and lovely Holiday Break. I hope everyone had a wonderful time with family and friends. We had a fabulous Holiday Party and we owe a big thank-you to Leanne McKenna and the Finnertys’. Students had a great time. Thanks so much. This week is a short week, so we will not study spelling words this week, but instead, we will work with verbs. We will begin to work on Reading/Math Logs this week, but we will cross out Monday and Tuesday. We are working on the continent of Africa in Social Studies. Before vacation, students worked with partners and looked through non-fiction books on Africa and searched for one important fact. We’ll share those facts and include them in our notes on this continent. We’re a little behind on our Guess-“timator” schedule, but we’ll begin again next week. This week we will work on our January transformations and illustrate them as well.
Wednesday’s homework will be: work on verbs – due Thursday
Thursday’s homework will be: final copy of the transformation –due Friday
Reading/Math Log – due Friday
I will send home an “All About Me” poster for Travis and it will be due on Monday, 1-7-13.
Special snack will be brought to us by Jack H. on Friday. We also hope to celebrate Sahana’s birthday this week.
Have a fabulous week and a safe and peaceful 2013.
With a sincere YAHOO,
Nancy
